Volkswagen Jetta 2019 Details

VOLKSWAGEN JETTA 2019

Exterior

For the 2019 model year, the Jetta depends on Volkswagen's Particular Transverse Framework (MQB) stage engineering. Working with the adaptable MQB stage permitted the planners to reshape the body, making a more extended wheelbase, more extensive track, and a shorter front shade. The quick slanting back roofline converts into a roadster like profile. Dynamic lines and rigid surfaces consolidate with the new outline to give Volkswagen Jetta a look that is without a moment's delay rich, yet athletic.

Contrasted and the current vehicle, the new vehicle becomes outside toward each path. It is longer, more extensive and taller than the active model. The expanded outside extents mean more inside space than the past vehicle too.

Outside, the all-new Jetta marks an advancement in Volkswagen's spotless and ageless structure DNA, with present day lines and a refined appearance. The blend of a huge front grille and more honed lines radiates an intense character, while the expansion of more chrome and Drove lighting loan a top notch feel.

The front end plan, with its accentuation of even lines, on the double recognizes the new Jetta as a Volkswagen. Explicit to the model is the particular unit framed by the radiator grille and the standard Drove headlights. The trapezoidal grille is made out of four chrome bars, two of which stream into the fog light lodgings where the LEDs get the lines and interface them for a fold over impact.

Interior

The Jetta interior architecture is redesigned, having been engineered for increased comfort while supporting a sophisticated, upscale design. The 2019 Jetta has more headroom, knee room, and shoulder room than the previous car. The trunk space is 14.1 cubic feet and split-folding rear seats (60/40) are standard.

The cockpit is a driver-focused environment, with form following function. Both the instruments and the infotainment system are arranged in an easy-to-read horizontal orientation. Both the infotainment system and the climate-control interface are located on the center console, which is angled towards the driver.

Meanwhile, trapezoidal design elements from the exterior are repeated in the cabin for a touch of sportiness, and premium soft-touch materials are used. The lower instrument panel has a similar horizontal design, with a fine decorative trim strip that runs beneath the cockpit, across the entire instrument panel, and into the doors.

The 2019 Volkswagen Jetta sports new fabric colors and designs for the seats and door trim, and the front seats feature an ergonomically-optimized backrest release that makes adjustments for front-seat occupants especially easy. For an extra luxurious touch, the power-adjustable seats of the SEL Premium offer standard perforated-leather seating surfaces with heating and front-seat ventilation.

SEL models offer the Driving Mode Selection feature as standard equipment. This system includes four modes to choose from: "Normal," "Sport," "Eco," and "Custom." Normal mode gives a balanced drive experience, while Sport is tuned for a more dynamic throttle response, tighter steering and more spirited ACC settings. Eco mode optimizes shift points, throttle response and climate control settings for improved fuel economy. Individual allows a driver to tailor the steering and throttle, ACC, and climate control settings.

Jetta SEL and SEL Premium models feature a standard 10-color LED ambient lighting system. Coordinated with the Volkswagen Jetta's Driving Mode Selection feature, the system provides soothing indirect white light in the Normal profile, red light in the Sport profile and blue light in the Eco profile. The driver can set any of the ten colors using Manual or Custom mode.

SEL and SEL Premium trims also feature Volkswagen Digital Cockpit technology, which offers drivers a reconfigurable instrument-panel screen instead of conventional instrumentation. The high-tech, 10.25-inch display can show key vehicle data in five driver-selectable modes, including one that positions navigation data front and center for easy viewing.

To appeal to music lovers, these trims also offer the BeatsAudio® system. Available in the Jetta for the first time in North America, this setup showcases a 12-channel, 400-watt amplifier, digital signal processing and nine speakers, including a subwoofer.

Every Jetta model offers standard Driver Personalization with up to four driver settings. Dependent on trim, customizable features include: driver seat memory, drive mode selection, driver assistance system preferences, climate control, Volkswagen Digital Cockpit arrangement, ambient lighting color, radio presets, navigation view, and more.

MIB II Infotainment. All 2019 Jetta models feature Volkswagen's innovative MIB II touchscreen infotainment system. The display utilizes a capacitive-touch sensor (as in smartphone and tablet technology) rather than the more common resistive touchscreens that require pressure, enabling gesture controls like swiping and even pinch-zooming. The Composition Color unit is standard on S, SE, and R-Line models, and features a 6.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display. SEL models feature the Composition Media unit with a glass-covered 8.0-inch touchscreen display that first debuted in the 2018 Atlas. SEL Premium models feature the Discover Media unit with the same display.

Volkswagen Car-Net. Volkswagen is committed to driving the development of more connected and intelligent vehicles, and the Car-Net® connectivity system is a major element in achieving that goal. Features available through Car-Net are divided into three key areas: "App-Connect," "Security & Service," and "Guide & Inform."

Car-Net App-Connect smartphone integration for compatible devices is standard on all Jetta models. App-Connect offers users the ability to run select smartphone apps directly on the vehicle's display through services such as Apple CarPlay™, Android Auto™ and MirrorLink®.

Equipped on Volkswagen Jetta SEL and SEL Premium models, Car-Net Security & Service is a suite of elements that provides security features and also allows owners to access their VW remotely through vw.com/carnet as well as a smartphone app.

Customers purchasing new Volkswagen models equipped with VW Car-Net Security & Service will receive a, six-month trial subscription from Verizon Telematics that starts on date of your Jetta purchase for no additional charge. To extend the benefits of this system after the trial, customers can choose from a number of payment options: One year for $199, two years for $378, and three years for $540, or month-to-month for $17.99, plus applicable taxes and fees. App-Connect can be used free-of-charge and is not included as part of the subscription-based services.

Powertrain

The new Volkswagen Jetta is powered by Volkswagen's 1.4-liter turbocharged and direct-injection TSI® engine, making 147 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. The 16-valve engine is able to generate peak torque at just 1,400 rpm, while at the same time returning EPA-estimated fuel economy of 30/40/34 mpg (city/highway/combined) regardless of transmission choice.

The engine, internally coded EA211, features an air-to-water heat exchanger built directly into the intake module in place of an intercooler. The exhaust manifold is integrated into the head, reducing the distance that exhaust gases must travel to reach the turbocharger, thus allowing for faster response and catalytic converter light off. Valves work to regulate coolant flow into the head, which allows for rapid engine (and thus cabin) heating, as well as efficient cooling when the engine reaches normal operating temperature. Both the intake and the exhaust valves feature variable valve timing, which results in improved low-rpm performance, as well as increased torque throughout the rev range. A relatively high 10:1 compression ratio further helps the engine's efficiency, yet it still takes regular (87 octane) gasoline.

While the 2019 Jetta is more technologically advanced than ever, retaining its fun-to-drive character was of critical importance. Thus, a six-speed manual transmission is standard, with an eight-speed automatic available optionally. The all-new eight speed automatic transmission offers the benefit of two additional gears over the Jetta's predecessor, while remaining exactly the same weight. Primary goals in its creation were driving comfort and, of course, fuel economy. A shorter first gear is designed to provide faster acceleration than the previous model as well. Shift-by-wire hydraulics pair with optimized gear teeth and ultra-low friction mating surfaces to create a seamless, efficient, and comfortable drive experience.

A Start/Stop System is standard on automatic-transmission models. This technology stops the engine during idle when the brake pedal is held (such as when waiting at a red light). When the brake pedal is released, the engine restarts seamlessly.

Driver-Assistance Systems

To meet the demands of American drivers, the 2019 Jetta offers a comprehensive suite of driver-assistance technology. Available features include: Forward Collision Warning and Autonomous Emergency Braking (Front Assist); Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Traffic Alert; Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC); active Lane Keeping System (Lane Assist); and High Beam Control (Light Assist).

Front Assist, optional on S models (in the Driver Assistance package) and standard on all other Jetta models, helps warn drivers of potential frontal collisions (Forward Collision Warning) with vehicles, and in some cases provides automatic braking assistance (Autonomous Emergency Braking).

Within physical system limits, Forward Collision Warning helps warn the driver of potential critical front-end collision situations, both acoustically and visually by a warning symbol in the instrument cluster if the car is above 20 mph. If the driver fails to brake, or if the car is below 20 mph, Autonomous Emergency Braking is activated to slow the vehicle. If the brake pedal is applied but the driver brakes too lightly, the brake pressure is increased by the system (Braking Support).

Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Traffic Alert is optional on S models (in the Driver Assistance package) and included as standard equipment on all other VW Jetta models. Blind Spot Monitor uses two radar sensors at the rear of the vehicle to scan the approaching traffic and help warn drivers of potential danger in adjacent lanes. If the driver uses the turn signal to indicate a lane change while a vehicle is detected in a blind spot, the system utilizes a flashing LED symbol in the outer area of the side mirrors. Even if the driver does not use a turn signal, the LED symbol in the mirror will illuminate if a vehicle is detected in the blind spot. The system is designed to help alert drivers in specific situations; stationary objects or oncoming vehicles do not trigger warnings, nor will vehicles more than one lane across away from the vehicle.

If combined with Lane Assist (Jetta SEL and SEL Premium, see below) the system not only helps warn the driver with the flashing LED symbol if a vehicle is detected in the blind spot, but within system limits, it can also countersteer to keep the car in the lane even with turn signals on. If the driver still tries to steer out of the lane, the system will warn with an additional vibration of the steering wheel.

The Rear Traffic Alert system helps detect vehicles approaching from the side that may be difficult for the driver to see while reversing. It offers a sizable range of about 65 feet, and will present a visual and an acoustic warning, before applying the brakes if a potential impending collision is detected. If the driver does not react, the system can apply the brakes to help mitigate and, in the best case, prevent a collision. The system is activated by putting the car in reverse.

Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), standard on SEL and SEL Premium models, uses a forward facing radar to maintain a set speed while helping maintain a set distance to the vehicle in front. The driver sets the speed and the desired spacing via buttons on the multifunction steering wheel and can further use those buttons or the brakes to adjust and cancel the ACC function while the accelerator can be used to override the ACC function. All ACC-related system messages appear in the central multifunction display.

When the roadway ahead of the vehicle is clear, the system maintains the set speed. Jetta models fitted with ACC can match a vehicle in front and come to a stop. The driver can resume ACC control after pressing the accelerator pedal or the "resume" button on the steering wheel.

The Volkswagen Jetta SEL and SEL Premium models are equipped with standard Lane Departure Warning (Lane Assist). When driving above 40 mph, if there is an indication that the vehicle is unintentionally straying from its lane, Lane Assist actively countersteers to help keep the vehicle in the lane. The system's camera recognizes visible lane markings and, using a special algorithm, calculates the risk of the car leaving the lane. If the driver takes his or her hands off the wheel for a defined period of time, the system provides an audible warning and a visual signal in the instrument cluster, asking the driver to take over. If the vehicle crosses a lane marking without use of a turn signal, the system will countersteer to keep the vehicle in the lane.

The system can work in the dark and/or in fog, but it will not engage if it cannot properly detect lane markings. If the turn signal has been set before crossing a lane marking, the Lane Assist system will not engage or give a warning. The driver can "override" the system at any time by applying minimal force to the steering wheel.

On Jetta SEL and SEL Premium, High Beam Control (Light Assist) automatically raises the headlamp high beams above 37 mph on dark or poorly lit roads, if there is no oncoming traffic detected.

Volkswagen T-Roc 2018 Details

Volkswagen T-Roc 2018

Volkswagen T-Roc petrol engines

The cheapest and most fuel-efficient T-Roc petrol is the three-cylinder, 1.0-litre TSI, which produces 113bhp and returns an impressive 55.4mpg average. It gets from 0-62mph in a respectable 10.1 seconds, and makes a charismatic noise while doing so. Thanks to its responsive nature, it actually feels rather quicker than its acceleration figures suggest, and proves more than a match for the bigger-engined 1.5-litre MINI Countryman. Its six-speed gearbox is light, precise and easy to use, too.

The 1.5-litre TSI EVO is the newest engine in the range and promises to be another highlight. Economy sits just below that of the 1.0-litre TSI, but there’s a useful boost in performance thanks to its 148bhp, cutting the 0-62mph time to 8.3 seconds.

The fastest petrol model in the range (at least until the rumoured 300bhp T-Roc R arrives) is the 187bhp 2.0-litre TSI model. This is currently only available with four-wheel drive and a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox, and while economy and emissions suffer as a result, the performance on offer is punchy, hitting 62mph in 7.2 seconds.

In this specification, the T-Roc gains adjustable drive modes that allow you to tailor the car to your needs with adjustments to the throttle, steering and suspension. Adjusted just so, the T-Roc 2.0-litre TSI can be fun behind the wheel. The balance between ride and handling is excellent and the car settles down nicely at a cruise.

Around town, the car’s great visibility, easily judged extremities and eager performance make it easier to drive than some of its less wieldy rivals.

Front-end design

Appealling plan components make T-Roc styling that is both certain and expressive. In front, these components are the wide radiator grille unit with coordinated double headlights. The top forms of the headlights use Drove innovation, while the fog light lodgings have an incredibly low-profile structure. This was empowered by independent lodgings for the blinker, the daytime running lights and the cornering lights in the guard. The repositioned light mark makes the T-Roc obvious around evening time too. A thin chrome strip isolates the radiator grille and headlights from the hood that is huge in SUV style.

Moving descending, the mix of radiator grille and headlights is surrounded by a more extensive chrome complement; this parallel component traverses the whole front end. The chrome complement, radiator grille and headlights together underscore the width and strength of the T-Roc. The guard cross board is additionally particular; it is painted in body shading and, as referenced, coordinates the Drove daytime running lights and blinkers. There are two forms of these light modules. The base adaptation contains even Drove daytime running light units, or more them the blinker units. In the top form, the daytime running lights and blinker lights are shaped by a solitary round Drove component. The white daytime running lights change to an orange shading for the blinkers. On the sides, haze lights with cornering lights move descending into the dark plastic surfaces of the guard.

Design of the side profile

The lines of the long, extended side profile are especially influenced by a distinctive chrome element. It is a standard feature that upgrades every version of the Volkswagen T-Roc, extending from the A-pillars over the entire side roof line and into the C-pillars. The latter are swept back, as on a coupé, and have the visual look of a Targa bar in a longitudinal direction. Together with the chrome trim strips, they lend the side profile a completely distinct dynamic character, whose form is reminiscent of that of a coupé. This effect is reinforced when the T-Roc is ordered in a bi-colour design. That is because the new model is the first Volkswagen SUV that can be ordered in a bi-coloured finish with a visually contrasting roof section (including A-pillars and exterior mirror housings).

Essentially, the chrome strip, the additional light edges on the roof, the roofline that descends coupé-like towards the rear, the distinctive C-pillars and bi-colour paint make the T-Roc appear lower than it actually is. Connecting to the area beneath the window surfaces is the character line. This light edge is designed as a sharp undercut. To the left and right it meets the muscular wheel arches. A strong shoulder section has been created in the radius of the rear wheel arch. Rugged dark plastic wrap-around off-road trim pieces protect the body in the area of the wheel arches, the side sills and the front and rear body.

Rear body design

The consistent, horizontal layout of the rear body is structured over three levels. Viewed from top to bottom, there is the roof transition including the rear window; then there is the middle surface with LED tail lights in 3D design, the VW badge and central T-Roc signature in chrome; finally, there is the bumper area. This three-level structure gives the SUV a lower, wider and more sporty look. At the top on the left and right, the boot lid is framed by the C-pillars.

Towards the rear, the C-pillars are completely under the glass of the tinted rear windscreen, which creates a strong impression of width. The styling of the rear bumper is just as distinctive as that of its counterpart at the front. Upward and to the sides it frames the rear lid. On the sides of the bumper there are plastic elements (in honeycomb design) and reflectors on the painted surface. On the lower-most level are the exhaust pipe trims towards the sides (in chrome look in the 'Style' and 'Sport') and a diffuser in the middle.

'Style' and 'Sport'

Further personalisation begins by selecting one of the two higher positioned equipment lines 'Style' or 'Sport'. They build on the base version and are on the same level in terms of equipment. However, their configurations differ significantly from one another. Their names already refer to the focal points of their respective basic configurations. The T-Roc Style is marked by exclusive accents such as the interior trim panels that can be ordered in one of four colours.

Meanwhile, the emphasis of the T-Roc Sport is on sporty features such as the standard sport comfort seats. Both versions are also offered with different bi-colour paints (standard in 'Style', optional in 'Sport'). In addition, the 'Style' and 'Sport' can be extended with an R-Line package; its features include numerous body elements such as special R-Line bumpers and side sills. An overview of the key differentiating characteristics of the two exclusive and equivalently featured trim lines 'Style' and 'Sport' compared with one another and with the base version 'T-Roc' (sample features):

Diesel engines

Those who make a lot of long, constant-speed motorway journeys will find the 113bhp 1.6-litre TDI engine usefully economical, yet it still has enough low-down power for most. The 148bhp 2.0-litre diesel does offer a worthwhile boost if you find yourself facing aggressively fast-paced traffic, though.

It feels gutsy when you put your foot down, and doesn't seem as noisy as other diesels with this much power, even when you really wring it for all it can give. Front-wheel drive and a six-speed manual gearbox are standard, or you can opt for 4MOTION four-wheel drive and a seven-speed DSG automatic gearbox. The latter is very smooth between gears, but we did find it hangs on to third gear for an inordinate amount of time before changing up.

Adaptive chassis control and progressive steering

The Volkswagen T-Roc can be further adapted to the driver's personal preferences via a range of convenience systems that is exceptionally large for this vehicle class. They include features such as adaptive chassis control (DCC). The system's electrically adjustable dampers make it possible to make the T-Roc running gear tuning very sporty, or more pliant, as an alternative to the normal tuning.

The car's dynamic character and comfort are also optimised by progressive steering, which was originally introduced in the Golf GTI (enables better control in a sporty mode of driving and offers added ease of steering during manoeuvring). Other convenience systems include electric actuation of the boot lid, the keyless locking and starting system Keyless Access, auxiliary heating and ventilation, a two-zone Climatronic system and steering wheel heating. The optional panoramic sunroof brings ample light into the T-Roc interior. It is 870 mm wide and 1,364 mm long, which makes this tilting/sliding sunroof - which consists of two glass parts - the largest in the market segment.

Innovative assistance systems

In its market segment, the Volkswagen T-Roc is in a league of its own when it comes to its assistance systems. Standard features on all T-Roc vehicles include: the Automatic Post-Collision Braking System, the active lane keeping system Lane Assist and the Front Assist area monitoring system with Pedestrian Monitoring and City Emergency Braking. All T-Roc Style models are also equipped with the Driver Alert System. Other options that can be configured for the SUV include eleven additional assistance systems. An overview of all T-Roc systems:

2018-2019 Volkswagen Arteon Details

2018-2019 Volkswagen Arteon

Volkswagen did a supercar again.

Now let's see to this monster's technical details :

Six engines appear at launch. VW’s new 1.5 TSI petrol engine forms the base option with 148bhp and cylinder deactivation technology. It’s joined by two 2.0-litre options which we've driven already in a pre-production model – one with 187bhp and a more powerful 276bhp engine mated to 4MOTION four-wheel drive as standard.

The three diesels are all 2.0 TDI units, with 148bhp, 187bhp and 237bhp respectively. 4MOTION all-wheel-drive will be an option on cars with the 187bhp diesel, while it’ll be standard on the 237bhp car.

Seven-speed DSG gearboxes are available on all engines, and will be standard on the 2.0-litre petrol models as well as the range-topping diesel.

Economy figures remain withheld for all but two models – the range-topping petrol and diesel units. The 276bhp 2.0 TSI will return a claimed 38.7mpg with CO2 emissions of 164g/km. The 237bhp 2.0 TDI manages 47.9mpg, in tandem with 152g/km CO2.

2018-2019 Volkswagen Polo GTI Details

2018-2019 Volkswagen Polo GTI

With more than 14 million units sold, it is one of the world's most successful compact cars: the Volkswagen Polo. Now a completely new generation of the best-seller is launching. With an entirely new exterior design, noticeably more spacious interior that has also been redesigned down to the last detail, new cockpit layout structured for the digital world, efficient TSI (petrol), TGI (natural gas) and TDI (diesel) engines1/2 as well as an array of assistance systems which previously was only familiar in larger Volkswagen cars.

Dr Herbert Diess, Chairman of the Board of Management for the Volkswagen brand: "The Polo is a young, fresh car. It combines charisma with strong technology. No other car offers so much space for its size. This makes our Polo the number one compact, and it will remain number one."

The sixth generation Volkswagen Polo has grown, making it larger than its predecessor in all of its dimensions. This has resulted in much more interior space and a significantly increased boot volume, which has grown from 280 to 351 litres. Nonetheless, it is still a snappy compact car on the outside. It is enlightening to compare this car to the fourth generation Golf (built until 2003) which has sold in the millions.

It shows that the Polo has adapted to people who have grown, but also that it utilises its enclosed space even more effectively. The new Polo, with its length of 4,053 mm, is slightly shorter than the fourth generation Golf, but it surpasses that Golf when it comes to its wheelbase (53 mm longer) and space for the driver, passengers and luggage (21 litres more).

New VW Polo GTI launched alongside regular car
Now has 200hp from it’s 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine
Promises sportier handling than the regular car
Due in late 2017 priced around £20,000

If you’re in the market for a new hot hatch, the latest VW Polo GTI is another competent option to put on your shortlist. Launched simultaneously with the new Polo, it’ll be VW’s high-performance rival to the Ford Fiesta ST, Mini Cooper S and Renaultsport Clio.

VW hasn’t said how much the new Polo GTI will cost so we’re expecting it to be priced similarly to the outgoing model – roughly £19,500. It should go on sale before the end of 2017 with most deliveries likely to arrive in 2018.

My general point : 6,5
My point to exterior design : 6/10
point to interior design : 8/10
point to front bumper : 7/10
point to rear bumper : 6/10
point to headlights : 7,5/10
point to rearlights : 5,5/10
