2018-2019 Fiat Argo
Fiat did a attractive car again.Fiat know the job :)
Style, Technology, Comfort, Performance, Sportiveness and Safety. More than six words, these are six attributes that define the Fiat Argo, a model that sustains and gives even more force to the new phase of Fiat in the hatchback segment in the Brazilian market.
In its more than 40 years in Brazil, Fiat has become known for developing products that are highly connected to consumer desires, especially in the compact hatchback segment. From the pioneer Fiat 147 to the latest Mobi, several dynasties of hatchback sales champions have succeeded, such as the various generations of Uno and Palio, or the award-winning Punto.
From the union between the technology capable of stamping the most refined surfaces and the emotion of the handmade sculpture, Fiat Argo is born. With a design full of Italian soul, it brings balance in proportions, elegance in detail and the sportiveness so desired in a hatchback.
The "wrap around" concept experienced earlier in Fiat Toro now moves more restless, almost nervous, so all the excitement of a hatchback can be perceived by insinuating lines.
On the front, the long, bulky hood demonstrates its imposing presence. The headlights that invade the side with dynamism are bi-parabole with LED that leave a remarkable signature and a technological look. The grid is no longer a simple element of covering the internal parts of the engine to become a three-dimensional object, rich in details. This is a modern line of automotive design, also seen in premium segment models and in European supersports.
The underside visually reinforces the width of the car with the air intakes sculpted at the ends of the bumper. The visual effect is immediate, with the increase in "size-impression" and the perception of balance in the forms.
They stand out in the bulky drawing the anabolized wheel boxes, with muscles under the line of waist that contours the whole hatchback. The wide wheelbase made it possible to explore the way the light moves around the car, creating an effect of light and shadow that accentuates tension and spiritedness. The result is a dynamic, sensual and attractive sculpture. Argo, even stopped, transpires movement and sportsmanship.
At the rear, the lights have fragmented and modern design, with format "C" pointing to the center of the FIAT logo and supporting carved into the side of the back cover. The sports bumper, with its aerodynamic extractor, emphasizes the jovial character of the car, while at the same time guaranteeing lightness to the whole.
Fiat Argo performance goes far beyond the engines - Firefly in 1-liter three-cylinder and 1.3-liter four-cylinder forms and E.torQ 1.8 Evo VIS with 139 hp. It undergoes a fine adjustment between transmission, steering and suspension, as well as a solid, well-built body and with excellent sound insulation. In the new hatchback, the mechanical tuning has received exquisite treatment in a combination that results in performance, efficience, comfort, safety and driving pleasure. All this with the signature of an engineering area with more than 40 years of tradition in the development of vehicles perfectly adapted to the driving conditions in South America.
The choice of engines is completely aligned to the offered versions of the new Fiat Argo. When the customer looks for more affordable models, fuel consumption is a highly important item. Therefore, Argo Drive with Firefly 1-liter and 1.3-liter engines are the most economical in the segment. Now when the consumer opts for a larger powerplant, it's clear he wants performance and a full stop. And the 1.8-liter Argo delivers, because the E.torQ Evo VIS 1.8 engine offers best-in-class performance.
In fact, and independent of the difficult performance / fuel economy ratio, Argo is a very good car to drive. The Firefly family, both in 1-liter and 1.3-liter forms, offers the best and better distributed torque of the segment, giving agility to the accelerations and resumes of speed, without the need to squeeze the accelerator pedal at all times. The Firefly strength is the result of an intelligent combination of the adoption of two valves per cylinder, the high compression ratio and the minimum rates of internal friction. A technological engine, with high combustion control, is true, but above all a highly efficient intelligent solution in terms of consumption and torque delivery.
The Firefly family was designed based on two pillars: efficiency and reliability. These two bases are the most important for the customer, because they combine the difficult binomial consumption/force. With a two-valve head per cylinder and single valve control on the variable-displacement head, both the 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine and the 1.3-liter four-cylinder engine have the lowest internal power consumption for the valvetrain drive compared to any other four-valve cylinder head. In addition, they offer customers the best torque and low fuel consumption, which in practice is what everyone wants. Without losing the pleasure of driving, quite the contrary, Argo Drive 1.0 and 1.3 bring mark A in the Brazilian Vehicle Fuel Efficiency Labeling Program and are also among the most powerful in the segment. With 3 cylinders and 1 liter, Argo Drive generates 77 hp and 10.9 kgmf of torque with ethanol. The 1.3-liter has 4 cylinders, 109 hp and 14.2 kgmf of torque (ethanol).
When it comes to performance, Argo can rely on the E.torQ Evo VIS and becomes the most powerful in the class. With 139 hp at 5,750 rpm and maximum torque of 19.3 kgfm at 3,750 rpm (both with ethanol), the Precision and HGT models are the most powerful and fastest in the segment. That without losing the liveliness in traffic, thanks to the variable intake manifold, also called VIS (Variable Intake System), which ensures more power at low engine speeds. In practice, there are two intake manifolds in one: up to 4,000 revs, the air goes through the cylinders a longer path, favoring the torque. Above this rotation, a fin is activated and causes the air to travel a shorter path, generating more power. The sporty HGT, for example, can take the Argo to 192 km/h of maximum speed, with an acceleration from zero to 100 km/h in just 9 seconds, the best segment numbers.
